From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
