Vinted Members Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
